Paedetrician and a sick child
We had Lachlan’s paediatrician appointment yesterday afternoon which went well. Again, Marty was able to come along so it was good that both of us could put input on our concerns about lachlan. Long story short is that the paediatrician does not believe that Lachlan has any signs on autism or aspergers and that he just has speech delay which speech therapy and pre-school should help.
We brought all 4 kids with us and they were all quite well behaved. The older 2 kids just listened to what the paediatrician had to say. He made it clear to the the other kids to not talk over Lachlan and let him speak. Also, for martin and I to combine verbal talk and visual aid when we are talking to him.
For example the doctor was rolling a car along the table pushing it back and forth. So while he is doing that he says “I have a car, I am rolling the car back and forward”. The doctor said that we should describe as much as we can when we are talking to Lachlan.
Lachlan has actually come a long way in the last few weeks already in his speech and although he leaves the beginning and sometimes the end of a word. At least we can understand him, before he would get frustrated.
Along with his speech, he seems to have a greater confidence. Martin and I have decided that naughty 2’s is aligned with the ability to communicate. So lachlan seems to be going through his naughty 2’s at the moment.
How about Ethan!. The doctor said that his language should be around 20 words. Well, let me tell you he says more than 20 words.
Anyway after the appointment we went home, Dylan fell asleep in the car.
We got home and while he was working on his school bible presentation, he started getting a temperature, he ended up going to bed until the morning.
So his home today and looks like I’ll be nursing him to better health. Starting with porridge in bed.
Now I wonder if he’ll do this for me when I am crook in bed!.
